The Fiji Australia Business Council (FABC) and Australia Fiji Business Council (AFBC) officially launched last Friday, their flagship business event – the 2024 Fiji Australia and Australia Fiji Business Councils Joint Forum to be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva from 29th to 31st of August 2024.
Key representatives of the Joint Business Forum sponsors and media partners were present to show their solidarity and support to this highly anticipated business event organised annually by sister councils FABC and AFBC, with the last one being held in Sydney last year.
“The Forum theme this year is “New Challenges, New Solutions,” which is in lieu of the fact that the post-COVID world and the subsequent reopening of national economies in the region posed many new challenges that now require not just new solutions, but also innovation, cooperation, global perspectives and strengthened partnerships. Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Manoa Kamikamica has confirmed to speak at the Forum together with other high-profile speakers and industry experts,” says FABC President Vera Chute at the Launch.
The renewed Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership elevates Fiji and Australia’s shared commitment to strengthening our economic and trade partnership. Australia and Fiji’s two way goods and services trade increased from AUD1.5 billion in 2021-22 in to AUD2.9 billion in 2022-23. Continuing to deepen the economic relationship between Australia and Fiji will play a key role in achieving shared priorities and support Fiji’s economic resilience, including through increased trade and market access, private sector growth and economic diversification.
Australia has over AUD 1 billion dollars worth of foreign investment in Fiji, and with huge ongoing projects in the region like the AUD4 billion Australia Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) that commenced in 2019, there are many opportunities to be explored and maximised when an anticipated over 120 delegates from Fiji and Australia’s business communities, private, development, and government sectors, convene here in Suva this August.
“Westpac Fiji is proud to stand in support of the Fiji Australia Business Council. As a leading financial institution committed to fostering economic growth and development in Fiji, we recognize the vital role that organisations like the Fiji Australia Business Council play in facilitating trade, investment, and collaboration between our nations. By partnering with the council, Westpac aims to contribute to the success of businesses in both Fiji and Australia, driving sustainable growth and prosperity for our communities,” shares Cameron Penfold, Westpac Fiji’s Head of Corporate & Business Banking, who attended the Launch and said a few words. Westpac is the major gold sponsor of the Joint Forum.
President Vera and Executive members would like to thank all the generous sponsors who are supporting the Joint Forum; Westpac, Fiji Airways, Swire Shipping, Vodafone, Joyce Aviation, Value City, Comfort Home Furnishing, Aquasafe; and also the media partners, FBC and the Fiji Times.
