On 16 September 2019 the Prime Ministers of Fiji and Australia signed the Vuvale Partnership agreement in Canberra. ‘Vuvale’ is the word in the Fijian language for ‘family’ – in every respect; it means ‘my home is your home’. Drawing from this deep-seated sense of belonging, Fiji and Australia aspire through this Vuvale Partnership to a new era of elevated cooperation, consultation and friendship between our two nations. The signing signified a commitment not only as friends and partners, but as family, as vuvale.
